OUR CENTER
The Actively Learning Promoting Hoping Achieving
(A.L.P.H.A.) Center, was established
in March 2007. The A.L.P.H.A. Center's, non-profit
Community Development Corporation mission is to provide
individuals and groups an opportunity to be enriched
culturally, educationally, socially, spiritually,
and technically. Our hope is to effect positive changes
in the condition of our society by working with individuals
of all walks of life. This is done by applying
practical teaching to everyday living by example of
our staff and associates as well as encouraging our
clientel to do the same.
| ACTIVELY:
|
We must ALWAYS
be actively "doing something
positive". In order for our communities
to thrive, we MUST replace the negative values
and influences with positive attitudes and ACTION.
|
LEARNING:
|
We believe, "Learning
is the best of all wealth; it is easy
to carry, thieves cannot steal it, the tyrants
cannot seize it; neither water nor fire can
destroy it; and far from decreasing, it increases
by giving.”
|
PROMOTING:
|
Promotion
keeps the mission in the minds of the community
and helps stimulate demand for the service.
Promotion involves ongoing advertising and publicity.
The ongoing activities of advertising, sales
and public relations are essential to accomplishing
our purpose.
|
HOPING:
|
Hope,
unlike positive thinking, is a belief in a positive
outcome related to events and circumstances
in one's life. Hope implies a certain amount
of perseverance — i.e., believing that
a positive outcome is possible even when there
is some evidence to the contrary (From Wikipedia,
the free encyclopedia). People need a restored
sense of hope in order to overcome challenges
our communities present.
|
ACHIEVING:
|
Achievement must be measured
and rewarded. |
CENTER:
|
Our Center is not just physical
space in which we meet but also a point, pivot,
axis, etc., around which our mission rotates or
revolves. We look inward to our "center"
to provide the inspiration and knowledge to go
out and serve others.
